My transactions’ amount do not match the budget total
My transactions’ amount do not match the budget total
Updated over a week ago

This is what happened!

  • I set up budgets with some categories. The app shows me all the budgets I have as well as the total amount for each budget. .

  • When checking my budget progress for a particular budget, I noticed that the total spend amount (so far) doesn’t match the total amount of all my transactions in the same budget.

  • That looks really weird to me because I don’t know how it’s calculated

Did you know

  • ‘Pending’ transactions are not calculated in the budget

  • It includes all transactions from the same category in the calculation of the budget, both debit and credit transactions.

  • If you have duplicate transactions, they are also included in the calculation of the budget.

  • Excluded transactions are not calculated in the budget.

Here are a few tips to help you resolve your issue:

1. Check if you see all the transactions of that particular category are showing in the budget details screen

  • Take a screenshot of the budget details screen where you see the total amount doesn’t match. Make sure you have all transactions in the screenshot.

  • Go to the Transactions screen, use the Search and Filter function to find all transactions with that particular category. Make sure you select the correct date range that matches with the budget period.

  • Compare the search result with the transactions you have in the budget details screen.

  • This will help you identify where the gap is. And if you can check the transactions that made the gap, it may help you understand why the total amount doesn’t match

2. Refresh the app AND/OR log out then login again

  • This simple trick does help sometimes. The reason for this is: Maybe you have recategorised your transactions but the app has not been refreshed to update the transactions in the budget.

  • Refresh or log out log in forces the app to refresh and to update data, to sync with the back end system so that all the calculations can be updated accordingly.

Still having a problem? Here are some options:

Option 1: Delete the current budget and create a new one

  • Start a brand new budget with the hope that it will work as expected.

  • You have to wait few days to get transactions and check the budget again
