How to manage custom transaction categories

  1. Can I create my own transaction categories?

    • Yes, you can create your own categories starting from version iOS 3.18.0. This feature will be available in Android version 2.27.0. You can personalise these categories with an icon and default bucket within the app.

  2. How many categories can I create?

    • You can create up to 200 of your own categories.

  3. Can I create a budget for my category?

    • Absolutely! You can create budgets for any categories you've personalised and track your spending within those categories.

  4. Can I recategorise transactions to my own category?

    • Certainly! Once you've created your custom category, you can easily recategorise transactions to better organise your spending. The Cashflow section will provide insights into your spending on these categories.

  5. After changing the default bucket for a category, why do I still observe the category appearing in other buckets?

    • Categories aren't exclusive to a single bucket. You have the flexibility to assign both a category and a bucket to each transaction individually. As a result, transactions categorised under the same category may appear in different buckets.

  6. How do I access my categories?

    • You can manage your categories in the Settings > Buckets & categories section. Edit or delete your categories at any time from this list.

  7. Can I delete default categories?

    • No, you can't delete default categories as they are used by our enrichment engine to assign transactions. However, you can recategorise transactions to your own category and set up rules for similar transactions.

  8. What happens to my transactions when I delete my categories?

    • If you delete your own categories, all transactions previously assigned to those categories will revert to the default categories. Any transaction rules associated with the deleted categories will be removed, and future transactions will be assigned to the default category.

  9. Can I create 2 categories with the same name?

    • No, you cannot create two categories with the same name under the same bucket. However, it's allowed if the categories are under different buckets (e.g., Living Food and Lifestyle Food).

  10. Can I create my own bucket?

    • Currently, we don't support creating your own bucket. We are considering this for a future update and will keep you informed.

  11. Can I group categories into different buckets?

    • No, grouping categories into different buckets is not supported at the moment.
