Providers in the Frollo app

Explain why we have 'Providers' in the Frollo app and how they work

Updated over a week ago

What are Providers in the Frollo app?

Providers refer to banks and financial institutions in Australia and in international that you can connect their accounts in the Frollo app.

There are two main methods to connect your accounts:

  • Open Banking uses the Consumer Data Right (CDR) and is regulated by the Australian government. This is the preferred method as it is secure and gives you more control over your data.

  • The alternative approach is screen-scraping. Performed by a third party (Yodlee), it allows data displayed in online banking screens to be made available within the app. Screen-scraping is required to link super and investment accounts.

Find a provider to connect your accounts

Popular providers are shown at the top of the Providers list.

All providers are listed alphabetically under All providers.

You can search for any provider using the search function on the screen or scroll down to see more providers.

Some providers may appear more than one time in the list, because we have 2 methods to connect your accounts (Open Banking and screen-scraping). Find the most appropriate provider and its linking method will help you succeed connecting your accounts.

Providers are shown in the list but unavailable

Sometimes you may see some providers that are shown with an alert icon next to them, and they are unavailable to link.

This is because of (i) the provider itself having an outage or connection interrupt, OR (ii) the aggregator is having an issue (by themselves or between them and the provider). Most of the time, the unavailable providers which are using the screen-scraping method. It's hardly happened to the providers which are using Open Banking method.

Can't find a provider?

Unfortunately, if you can't find your providers in the list, that means the providers are not ready to use yet either via the screen-scraping method or Open Banking method. Some of them may be in 'beta' (internal testing) or in 'not support' (by the aggregator) status, but as a user, you won't be able to link your accounts with those providers.

What you can do, at that point in time, is to use our Manual Assets & Liabilities feature to create manual accounts in the Frollo app and manage them manually while waiting for the providers to be available.
